Judging by the lack of feed back from the rest of the attending people (apart from Potia), would my attendance be problematic because you have the optimal number of people required / agreed and therefore my late inclusion may represent a problem? (I'm not going off on a neo-pagan spat or trying to turn this into a popularity contest, but if my inclusion is a problem because of agreed numbers, logistics or whatever, which would be a reasonable position, I want to know now so that I don't invest in holidays, fuel expenses and time in a fruitless weekend endeavour!) RR ??!!??!!??!!??!!?? Of course you're welcome RR! It never occurred to me for even a moment you might think otherwise. Popularity contest? Even choosing to live on the wrong side of the Pennines and regularly witness flankerless, ruckless, maulless rugby you are still most welcome! Not to mention another bloke to haul fuel up the crooked path...

BTW Redraven will you be able to arrive Friday afternoon? I'm just cheekily trying to see if anyone can help me set up? Also I'm guessing you'll be coming by car? If so will you be happy to take your car into the hills on Saturday? - I've just realised we might be a little short of cars for getting everyone into the hills in a single trip.

Hi Heron - Is there any chance you could manage a couple of spaces in your car to help get us all up to Eigiau on Saturday?

Just some thoughts on what to bring. In no way prescriptive!
If we're blessed with clear weather the night in the hills will be cold. Obviously a sleeping bag is needed and a foam mat.
The thing to wear is lots of thin layers and a waterproof. Super noodles /complete pasta meal is a good light (weight) option for personal food.
I'm hoping to persuade 4 of the fittest of you to carry around 5kilos of fuel each for the fire? Some tea-lights would also be useful. Bothy accommodation is basic- no mod. cons but for the early risers you will hear skylarks, and only the nosiest of movers won't see mountain hares on the fridd by the bwthyn as a consolation.
No loo so a trowel will be handy, if it's been hot then a plunge in the very (no very in May) cold lake will be an option for the brave, otherwise a pack of wet wipes is always worth their weight to carry! BTW this is a deep clear lake and in places you can often see the fish if you have polarising sunglasses.
Potia suggested porridge for breakfast - sounds good!
The main thing is to try and keep what you carry to a minimum.
Perhaps for the evening meal lamb sausage, oatcakes and cheese might be appropriate - or shall we just have something nicer?!
Any questions please get in touch! Hope this didn't soynd patronising?

I'm putting the Friday in as annual holiday, I don't fancy a Friday afternoon traffic nightmare. I just wanted confirmation that it would be OK, so I'll probably get to you early to mid afternoon. Also I'm guessing you'll be coming by car? If so will you be happy to take your car into the hills on Saturday? - I've just realised we might be a little short of cars for getting everyone into the hills in a single trip. I don't think that'll be a problem, though I may be in the wife's car and not mine, that part has to be finalised yet and her car, a Corolla, is not as large as my Hyundai. RR

Not patronising for me - just what I wanted in fact I'm happy to bring oats and one or two other things for a good porridge but I haven't got a pot. I'll try and bring enough oats for Saturday and Sunday mornings. Is there something nicer than lamb sausage, oatcakes and cheese? Sounds great to me I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon.

I've been PMed suggesting I post an itinerary... Early Friday evening - Bonfire Later Friday evening - Chat in tipi around fire - suggested topics include being mean about Megli, Deiniol, Teg and others who aren't there Saturday Pack up. Round up some sheep from flood plain we're camping on and move them off the valley floor (we can't take them properly up in to the hills as I don't have grazing rights where we're going). Before we release them on to fresh grazing I thought we might choose one and mark it and come Samhain it could be butchered and all are welcome to some of the meat - sent in post with ice-pack - I offer it free but contribution to postage appreciated. I think there's value in us sharing a feast at that time of the same animal that we have each known as an individual and, albeit to a limited extent, shepherded as a group at the start of summer. Perhaps we could even have a winter gathering somewhere and share it together? Drive up into hills and walk up to Dulyn. Get a feel for the place. Its history / stories / atmosphere - its Spirit. Make preparations for Potia's journey. And work with anyone else who has a specific wish in mind. Evening in bothy with fire (if folk carry fuel!) Open to suggestions - particularly if anyone has particular things they hope to do over the weekend.

I think the idea of us meeting for Samhain too and sharing the lamb is marvellous. This is beginning to sound like a community! --- Very happy with other suggestions for this gathering. Presumably we can expand on these over the next week or two and arrive knowing what we intend to do. As regards food: Presumably we all bring the suggested items to share. Or should certain individuals bring different items? Good to get things like this clear in advance.

1. Will be good to see you again RR 2. great sounding 'itinerary' 3. i have some disposable wooden cutlery at home so will bring that - enough for all. 4. sausage, oatcake and cheese sounds great as a meal to me 5 some other small ideas but those can wait till we all arrive, mainly fire lighting 'ritual' and offering.

If there's time, what about a firelighting lesson from Dreamguardian for those of us who haven't ever tried lighting fires without lighters and/or matches? It all looks great to me though

Christ, this has crept up on me - i hadnt realised this get together is a week this friday coming.
i shall go book trains etc.
simple question: tea and coffee - will there be a means of making these? even in terms of boiling water (i can be ingenious in how i get a cup of tea with milk and sugar)

Sounds as if you are all going to have a wonderful time-- I'm madly jealous, but i would only be a liability due to health concerns.
Have a great time, everyone, and put some pics and a report up, please?
Cheers, Midori

Some logistic queries now that the weekend is almost upon us:
Will we all fit comfortably in the tipi for sleeping or should I bring another tent for overspill?
Can we guarantee having sole use of the bothy or should we have a contingency if others are there?
I can bring a pot for the porage, not enormous but bigger than the average saucepan. I presume we're bringing our own food for Fri eve and Sat lunch. If we are having lamb sausages and oatcakes communally on Saturday eve is there somewhere locally we can get these or do we need to make arrangements as to who will bring what?
Is everyone leaving early on Sunday or will some of us want to make a day of it then too?
