My experience is that S of P actually retains some of the influence of our ancestors. For example, where I live, the landscape was changed by mining and the resultant slag heaps are now thriving wildlife reserves, areas that appear natural, but to my limited perceptions, retain some of the energies and intentions of the people who removed this material from the underground and placed it above ground.

Which is suggestive of the OP that Gods tend to not be geographically fixed, but rather are "attached" to and with the individual.

I dont live in Wales but nonetheless seem to have a very strong connection with the land which Ive had pretty much all my life. Its similar to Portia's feeling of 'I'm home' when she got off the train at Glasgow. Im originally from Birmingham and now live in Dorset. Strange as it may seem i dont really class Birmingham as my home. When i visit Wales however (South Wales in particular) it always seems so familar to me. I seem to have an affinity with the land there. Im learning to love Dorset but the Spirits of Place here feel very different to me. I visit Dartmoor a lot and love the rugged solitude of the place and that has a unique feeling also, again different from other places. What im trying to say is although i share a polytheistic belief in an earth mother & sky father, i also associate with my own individual spirits of place which mean something to me and which affect my life, which im guessing is the same with the various Brython tribes
