It's been pretty quiet here the last couple of weeks, no doubt partly due to the recent political upheavels caused by Brexit.
Just wondering how others have feel about the result and what we can do as polytheists in the face of the rise of racism and the threat of the dismantling of environmental regulations and other issues we now face?

Just wondering how others have feel about the result and what we can do as polytheists in the face of the rise of racism and the threat of the dismantling of environmental regulations and other issues we now face? I personally feel pretty sad about the result and the ensuing social climate that the whole process has produced. The longer-term consequences, after we actually leave, like possibly dismantling environmental legislation, will have to be faced up to and opposed as and when they happen. As polytheists I think we can stand up for pluralism and against exclusivity. As Brythons we can remember the common links and god names which we shared with the tribes of Gaul, an area which then included what is now Holland and Belgium and the Rhine/Moselle valleys as well as modern France (and so also Brussels!) We should try to be positive, bear witness to our gods and to the principles of inclusivity. This land has seen much change and turmoil over the many centuries since it has been as it is, and been subject to its own turmoil in the ages before that. The gods have long perspectives; difficult as it is, we should try to share them

Lorna , It all seemed a bit mad and still does. Distressing to hear about racism. I see why people want to defend their identity but those people are human too.
Heron, I've never thought of it that way (links with Gaul) but I remember reading somewhere that Roman Britain was a very cosmopolitan place.

@ Heron and Gwenno, thanks for your replies.
Heron, thanks for drawing attention to the Gaulish links. This is an area I haven't looked into much yet and I think could perhaps provide some fertile explorations in relation to the EU and Brexit.
I've recently come across a couple of excellent pieces on inclusivity within paganism and an wondering if we could put something together for the blog and website making it absolutely clear Brythonic Polytheism is an inclusive religion with no room for racism, homophobia etc. I'll share those in a separate thread.

yeah...disappointed here too. The thing now i think is to get on with things and where needed try to work to mitigate against problems.
There i a group I am part of - pretty big Wiccan group online - whihc is actively trying to work magic to stop Brexit. I was against this idea as i think now we need to focus on moving forward rather than change something that has happened - though upon divination, Gwyn says work to stop Brexit, so i have done some things.
The racism and general twattery will die own i think, it just needs time and stems from he "exuberance and high" of the Brexit win (not the right words but i cant think what else is most appropriate)

My general feeling was that as the British public has voted for Brexit we need to respect that and make the best of a bad situation. Interesting that Gwyn said to work to stop Brexit. Perhaps it will have consequences we haven't foreseen yet. Will think on that...

Will think on that... yep - I was surprised too, it went against my own feeling on the matter (aim to make this brexit as painless as possible and stop the tories being...tories with Britain post-Brexit), nevertheless, he said very unambiguously, and i did double and i think treble check using the oracle i use.

Living in Scotland I am incredibly aware of the differences in opinion and approach between the Scottish majority and the majority of opinions in England and Wales. My feeling is that there may yet be an independent Scotland within the EU within my lifetime.
