Hi Everyone.
I have had a passing interest in these things for about 20 years. About 5 years ago I decided to do the OBOD corse, and I have been exploring ever deeper since. My path has taken a largely shamanic style turn, and I have been developing relationships with my landscape
My understanding of the Welsh and Irish mythology is an ever-increasing cycle of experience, but I still find I struggle to get good handle on a pantheon that feels right to me. I have spent some time trying to learn Welsh (understanding how close it is to Brythonic)
in order to help with my research. I have felt for a while that I am looking for a form of Brythonic pantheon that is more based in my local area.
I am based on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire boarder just outside Mansfield, and have spent a fair amount of time researching my local area, for which there is not much information available. However, I am aware of
• Roman coin finds between Mansfield and Harlow wood (where I generally perform most of my rituals)
• Roman coin finds at the foot of Hamilton hill (once known as the mam, next to which the river Maun rises and from which Mansfield takes it’s name.
• Roman encampment in Mansfield / Mansfield woodhouse, and a later roman villa near Pleasley vale.
• Roman encampment at Rainworth
• The “druid stone” at Blidwoth (I grew up in Rainworth and Blidworth)
• A number of old Holly wells around the area.
• A shrine found in Nottingham dedicated to Nantosuelta and Sucellos
• The dedication of the spring at buxton to Arnemetia
I guess I have signed up as I have had a read through some of the posts, and I feel I could learn a lot here that will help straighten things up in my head. I am particularly interested in more information regarding my local area and the Corieltauvi tribe (I am a member of the OBOD Corieltauvi Grove). And generally ways I can learn more, and connect deeper with my local landscape.
I am very likely to simply lurk for a while as I catch up with some of the old threads, and I just want to say thank you to all of you for the work you have done so far
