I've taught loads of people how to play the olde didge. Now, IMO, that *is* a skill (guys and gals, once you get the circular breathing stuff, you'll know what I mean) Apparently, the Carnyx is played in a similar way, although at over £1000 for a Carnyx (if I could find someone to make me one) I haven't tried yet. If anyone has one they can loan me I'll be happy to experiment I do recall someone on one of the didje lists I frequented many years back constructed a crude one from copper pipe and various expanding joints and bends... I've often wondered about making something with tin and solder, but it's probably beyond my skill level (I can do wood OK, metal... <shrug>)

If anyone wants me to play their music on the DruidCast podcast do let me know. Blackbird, if you have a CD out would you like to send me one? PM me if you would. I'd love to include more harp music and I remember your wonderful playing from a Druid camp some years ago. It's great to be able to help promote the incredible Bards we have. The podcast is up to 8000 monthly listeners now. .....I'm so proud, sob.

I play the guitar, although somewhat rustily these days. I'm toying with the flute at the moment and I'd love to play the harp, but that's a distant dream.

I thought I'd like to play the flute - how hard can it be? All you do is blow down it... Learnt my lesson - five minutes into playing it, I nearly passed out So now I've compromised with the low D whistle, which is quite easy to get a nice sound out of without the need for recusitation afterwards ;D

remember to breathe... lesson number 1 the trick with any blown instrument, is knowing exactly when to inhale. It's often not at the obvious point (ie when you run out of puff).

I have been known to play the guitar and sing. At the moment I am putting some energies into playing a gemshorn, which is a very odd instrument sold to me by Corwen, a very cool bloke (did I get that the right way round?)

Corwen and Kate are the two musicians I have offered the Silver Branch to.
But I haven't seen them since them to sing with.

I've played a gemshorn, and it is very odd! A bit like a recorder, but made out of a horn. The person who made mine had made a hopeless job of it, the notes were completely random, so they'd obviously not got the holes in the right places. Corwen's stuff is brilliant, isn't it! Last thing I had a go on was a kantele type thing, which was pretty cool

If there are any vocalists that live near Leicester - our band desperately needs a vocalist

I sing in a girlie kind of way, what I sing depends on how much mead I have in me - the more mead the more I tend towards early Joni Mitchell.

What kind of vocalist, Steve? (Male, female, what style etc. ) We're quite near Leics and I might know someone who would be up for it. Early Joni Mitchell is good

Hi Blackbird, hi suelo,
We are a little bit like the Levellers (ish) I play Mando and guitar with a drummer, bass and second guitarist. Mostly own material with a few driven reels. Male or female - we would be very happy with either. It's a very friendly band and any input would be very welcome.

I'm in Leeds but am more a 'sing for your friends and family' type than anything else.
