Hi, I volunteered to write summaries of Flidais, Cernunnos and Sucellus for Dun Brython. Let me know what you think. Sheena
Flidais was an Irish goddess, surnamed Foltcháin, "beautiful (or soft) hair". She had a magical cow, the Maol; but she and her son had the power to milk deer as well as cows. The Tain bo Flidais tells the story of her affair with the champion Fergus, and how he obtained the magical cow.
Cernunnos is a Gaulish god best known from art, antlered and surrounded by animals. His name, the Horned One, emphasizes this. He is a god of wild animals, riches (one altar shows him pouring out money) and is possibly the Dis Pater that Caesar said was the divine ancestor of the Celts.
Sucellos, or the Good Striker was worshipped in Gaul, Switzerland and Germany, as well as York in England. He carries a mallet, and his consort Nantosuelta often appears with him. They seem to have been deities of domestic prosperity, and he sometimes has a cask, or else a pot or offering saucer, so he may have been a god of brewers.

These are perfect Once we've got the essays to go with them, we should be able to get pages for Flidais, Cernunnos and Sucellos up onto the site. Is this ok with you, Lee?

Does Flidais have a Brythonic counterpart?

I'd totally forgotten about these. Looking back at them I'm realising Flidais is Irish and Cernunnos Gaulish and that I'm not sure there are any inscriptions to them in Britain so maybe they should be amongst the deities featured on Brython?
I think we could definitely get Sucellos up though.
