Hi there, So as I have mentioned on this site before I research the Celtic language (/dialect) of Cumbric. In the past two years I have found through endless trawling through sources and scholarly papers around 350 words (at most) of Cumbric. I never use untrust worthy sources and never just make up words for the language. I hate that, and it defeats the point of reconstructing Cumbric completely. Many of my predecessors (as in, former amateur researchers ) from the beginning of known research on Cumbric (around 2008) have taken to treating theories as fact and therefore, have muddled people about the language. I aim to change that and find, preserve and record any last bits of Cumbric I can find. We'll never have the full language, but we can preserve what's left of it for recreational, religious and historical reasons. I have a youtube channel, a website and a facebook group, and you all are very welcome to join. Thanks for the links. I don't do FB but have taken a look at the website and the first You-Tube Video. The format was fine until it got to the poem and lists of verbs. I felt like more time was needed to absorb them. I think it would be helpful to have them written down in text on the site itself so they stay still and folks can study them.
I think it's important to preserve this old language. The question then arises, 'What can we do with it?' I'm not sure it's possible to recreate a living language from these scraps. Would there be a point?
I'm making slow, slow, progress with Welsh at the moment. The day I'm fluent I may start thinking more about Cumbric!
