I live in Dorset and up until November organised the Grove of the Oakleaf Circle in East Dorset. Fire was central to our ceremony, it wasn't easy to find a field in which the owner would accommodate us. The place we did have was great, Gaunts House near Wimborne, it even had a recreated henge in it, called "The Starhenge". Unfortunately that all fell through. The group has been mothballed, but who knows what the future holds.
My spirituality is not strictly what might be called polytheist, I am a neo-platonist and could therefore be described as a monist. The gods and goddesses have a role, but the ultimate for me and those that hold these beliefs is "The One", to which we will all return eventually. Probably after many rebirths. This is not some monotheists' interfering , moralistic god. We move to it, not it to us. I also believe that the later druidic belief system before the Roman invasion was influenced earlier by Pythagorean ideas, later by Platonist ones. Hellenistic culture seeped across southern and western Europe, particularly Gaul, and from there to Britain.
I also think that there is merit in the ideas of the 18th century druidic revival, Toland, Blake etc, even when taken discerningly, Iolo Morganwg.
It is good that the forum seeks to establish a spirituality that is set in a contemporary context and not just revivalism.
Anyway, that's me. I hope this forum is still live, sounds really interesting.
