First in a Mastercrafts series... could be interesting www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qsc3j"There are a little over 600 dedicated green wood workers in the country today, including the episode's mentor Guy Mallinson. He left a successful cabinet making business in London for a new life in Dorset, devoted to the simplicity of green wood craft. He works without power tools, screws or glue or fixings - just freshly cut or unseasoned wood and ingenious tools, such as the pole lathe and the steam bender."

I'm in contact with Guy on facebook. Looks like it's going to be a good series with Monty Don.

I do like Monty Don, but why is it that a programme about ancient crafts has to be reduced to the format of a pseudo-gameshow??? Monty D's also got another series on C4 running at the moment "My dream farm". Just for the ludicrous tragedy (and I do mean tragedy - her poor mum) take a look at this... www.channel4.com/programmes/my-dream-farm/4od#3030925The subject is just terrible - a clueless idiot townie (yes I know they're not all idiots, but this one is ) who thinks she can set up a 'farm' for herself. Poor girl I do feel sorry for her and her family, but for goodness sake grow up and get a grip woman! It's a comedy fit for a skit - complete with absurd repetition as the assumption seems to be that the audience has a concentration span of about a minute, and the ability to retain information for only a further 30 seconds. ["In part one we'll be looking forward to what's coming up in part two. In part two we'll be looking back at part one and ahead to what's coming up in part three. In part three we'll be looking back at parts one and two and giving you a taste of next week's programme"] Anyway the reason I mention it is that for a while now much of Monty Don's writing together with occasional comments he makes has me almost convinced he's Pagan. If not self-identifying as such I think we can forgive him along the lines of what the Rat-singing Piper of Vatican City might describe as 'Invincible Ignorance'. Until we have fewer nutters representing pagans publicly whole swathes of our society are just never going to be able (let alone be comfortable) to think of themselves as having an earth based spirituality...

I do like Monty Don, but why is it that a programme about ancient crafts has to be reduced to the format of a pseudo-gameshow???.. It seems to be the standard format for every program nowadays & constant reshowing of whats comming up as well as what happened before followed by repeating the premise of the program just in case you became brain dead or lost the will to live

Just watched it on iplayer
I liked the first episode of Mastercrafts. It is a good education to the pre-packaged mass consumer society.
