Hello Helen, The remains were found at the bottom of Slip Gill, a sheer drop of around 16 metres (around 50 ft) and two of the skeletons had "green" breaks to their thigh bones suggesting the breaks were made either just before or immediately after the bodies were thrown into the cave complex. If the breaks occurred during a fall into this cavern, the person would not have survived for very long, a most unpleasant, if short, experience. However, later they discovered cut marks on the shin bones, indictive of defleshing, which suggests the people were dead before being deposited into the cave system. The contrived bit of the program (for me anyway) was when fine cut marks were seen on one of the skulls just before the people were due to give a talk to the society whose website you linked to here. This left them in no doubt that the person had been ritually scalped, not unknown in Britain, but certainly unusual. The people paraded on this program are lauded as "experts" in differing professions, to miss something like this didn't seem very credible to me, although that may just be me being simplistic in assuming that to qualify for the title of expert means one has to be thorough.

RR Just watched it. Your assessment is very accurate. I had no confidence or respect for any of the 'experts' or their presentation style. It was a terrible production. 5 minutes worth of material dragged out for 60. All documentaries seem to be going the same way. A commentator stating whats going to happen next and then re-explaining whats just happened followed by a presenter doing exactly the same. It drives me nuts. I have it on good authority it's all to do with us channel flicking and hoping to catch our attention in the process! 'Still to come...' I was very shouty throughout the whole process. Just frigging get one with it and tell me bloody facts. The only good bit was the reconstruction of of the bodies and the excentric Miranda Green, she's great. Deleted the rest of the series I sky plussed - Junk Previously on this post dreamguardian explains his views on the whole production style and the presenters. Coming up next dreamguardian waits for any responses to his post.
