Hello. I'm Gwenno. live in the empty part of Mid Wales between the border with England and a lot of sheep. Living in the borders I do find I lose things been here and there. Is there a Celtic god of gaps? I think so but can't discover his name. I presumptuously call myself Bouddicca because I see myself as a warrior queen for my lost Celtic identity. Will I find it here?

Hello Gwenno and welcome. Not too sure about the god of gaps but knowing you're looking for a male means you're halfway there... personally not too good with lost identities but do feel free to ask questions

Thanks everyone for your welcome, particularly as that first post looks embarrassingly silly plus because I did it on my phone I didn't even get all the words right. So I'll try again in a clearer state of mind I have had a look round (well I did so a few times before taking the plunge and registering and posting) You seem to have lots of stuff to look through going back a long time. But I don't know if all the people then are still here? Posts lately seem to be all about changing things. I was a bit confused about the other site you are talking about but have found that now – need time to catch up The god of gaps, oh Lorna I suppose you are right that I am thinking of a male, though gender didn't really occur to me until you pointed out what I said. I was trying here to say something about living near the border and the feeling that we are between things here – also that it seems that some local spirit or deity expresses that feeling and seems to be all along the borderlands. Don't know if that makes sense if you don't live here? So I'll just continue looking around and see what else I might find to talk about

@ Gwenno - sounds like you've got quite a strong sense of a local spirit or deity of your borderlands, quite often their names aren't known, or are hidden. It's taken me ages to get know an unnamed local marsh goddess I know tentatively as the Lady of the Marsh and who I think became Mary of the Marsh under Catholicism and also seems linked to Stella Maris in some way. It may be worth looking at local place names and church names and the saints they're dedicated to?
I'm not sure if this helps but I recently found out in Irish there is actually a 'spirit of the gap' - 'Sprid na Bearnan.'

Thanks Lorna - 'spirit of the Gap' - that just jumped out at me. I've tried looking it up but not much joy on first try. 'Sprid na Bearnam' seems to be associated with (or another name of?) an Irish mischievious female spirit called 'petticoat loose'. More to do, unless you have any other leads to follow?

I've changed my name on here from Bouddicca to my real name. Being called Bouddicca seems a bit pretentious and I only used it because I thought I needed a special name and I have used it as an email address when I couldn't get one in my name. So I tried changing it to Gwenno and it looks like I can So Gwenno it is, or Gwen if you want to be familiar;)

No I don't have any of my own, it's just that they seem to outnumber people around here. Does your question mean that you do have some?

Yes I have a few ;-) I know sheep are currently getting a bad press particularly in that "empty" part of Mid Wales near you - but then I'd suggest the perception of it as 'empty' is perhaps just a question of scale?
