Just thought I'd broach the subject of summer pagan camps.
What camps are available and who's going to which ones?
I'm probably going to the druid network/rainbow 2000 camp in the Forest of Dean (I think in July) and will almost certainly be at the Oakdragon camp Near Cirencester in August.
I'll also be doing various historical events from May onwards. Just say if anyone wants details of those.
Blessings in friendship Brochfael

Hi Brochfael,
I'd be interested in any camps going, not sure if I could afford them, but the info would be interesting just the same.

I'll be going to the aforementioned Eala Bhan camps in May and August - they will probably be having a rename soon though, due to the splitting off of various people. Am thinking about the Forest of Dean camp, depends how the finances go. Last year, there was also a camp held up in Derbyshire, which I would like to attend this year, if it runs again. It was nominally run by the Children of Artemis, but in practice, it was more of a general pagan knees up. Can't go on too many camps though - else my poor boyfriend will feel all abandoned I'd love to have details of your events up here, Brochfael Can put them on the 'events' bit of the front page, if you like.

I can't find much information on the Eala Bhan camps. Could you tell us more about them?
Are they purely druidic or multi-pagan? Do you need to be a member to come? Who do you speak to about booking/joining?
etc, etc, etc

The Eala Bhan camps have been undergoing something of a crisis recently, and I've lost track of who will be taking the money! I'll let you know nearer the time, if you're interested in coming - attendance is only about £15.
It's multi-pagan, with a strong recon contingent - many of our shared Heathen friends go along, a few Celtic-y types, a fair amount of Druids and Wiccans. Generally a good atmosphere, with a fire, around which evening entertainments take place. There's usually some excellent singing going on - could do with more storytelling though ;D
To be honest, I'm not sure what the camp will be like this May, given all the politics that's been raging behind the scenes - hopefully a good time will still be had by all.
The camps are held in New Park, right in the New Forest. I'd love to see you there, if you want to join us!

The booking forms should be out by now for the New Forest Eala Bhan camp, I have mine. As I said before, they are semi-private, if you want to bring someone as your guest that's fine, but there is a limit on numbers. The price is £12.50 for the weekend (Friday to Monday).
If you've not received yours yet, Blackbird, pm me and I'll get one sent to you.

I would be very interested in coming if an invite could be wangled. I think I may already know one or two of the Heathen contingent there.
How do you think the organisers would feel about some brooch making and selling going on?
Could you tell us more about the format of the camp?

Thanks, Midori, I have done Brochfael - yes, you do know some of the Heathens there ;D Don't know about the brooch making - offhand, I don't think it would be a problem, but then, it's not my call! The format... well, it's generally very relaxed. There are one or two rituals each day, led by various groups. In addition, there are usually a few workshops and talks, on topics such as Seidr, herbal medicines, sacred wells, pagan theology etc. But there are lots of people who just go to have a relaxing time, and there's no pressure to take part in anything if you don't want to.
