After Chris kindly allowed me to have a try on his crwth, I'm now hooked on the instrument. I'm a sucker for drone instruments, and the crwth combines the drone with a wide variety of other options and the ability to play complex tunes with a mixture of plucked and bowed notes. So. I was wondering if anyone had any information on crwth music, ancient and modern sources, crwth makers etc.

I think there was someone who was making them. It may have been Renaisscance music

Can't find anything on the web about them... I've found a few crwth makers about, but I fear that anything worth playing is going to be well out of my price range (still, a bus ticket is out of my price range!) For early music generally, the Bragod - www.bragod.com - site is well worth trawling through. There is some basic information on the crwth, along with sound files, and good general info on early music and philosophies of music.

I did - but the price, while very fair for a beautiful piece of craftmanship, was beyond my means When I win the lottery...
