by Hugin the Bard ISBN: 1567186556
Has anyone else heard this CD? I bought it last month and have been listening to it in my car. It takes some of the tales from the Mabinogion and converts them into songs. Its folk music, although not the best, and I've found it quite entertaining. Okay, it is published by Lllewellyn, and perhaps the pronunciations are a bit dodgy (compared to those provided to me by the good folk of Caer Feddwyd), but you get the gist.
It could be a fun CD for kids, actually.
Cheers, Webwitch ;D (the big kid)

I was lent it by someone who never asked for it back I've got it as part of a book (A Bard's Book of Pagan Songs) which has lyrics and dots, along with the CD (Bardic Tales etc.) I must confess, after reading the lyrics, I couldn't bear to listen to it... I can see that it's probably a good bit of fun though, and perhaps I should give it a go... I just don't have a very high cheese tolerance ;D This one in particular is very bad: Caswallon's Quarry 'Farewell my love, my bonny love I'm bound for the Prescelli Mountains I hope to come home that you won't be alone Home from the Prescelli Mountains .... Stones we pull out of old Dyfed Who tricked Pryderi was Caswallon Stones we pull to our own fair land That Earth's true magick will carry on The hardest pull is the trilithons They're tall as a man times three Still I pull to return, my love Back to my loving family" Think you might be right though, take it as a bit of fun and it doesn't seem too bad...

Think you might be right though, take it as a bit of fun and it doesn't seem too bad... I didn't take the lyrics too seriously at all, to be honest. The songs resemble the tales, but they are far from faithful, but, if you leave out one or two of the songs, the CD could be a great intro for younger people as the music sweeps along, rather like a children's tv programme. It does me in the car for the moment, especially since I can't find my " Songs of Witchcraft and Magic" from the Museum.

My favourite car CD at the moment is Susan McKeown's Blackthorn album Utterly fantastic traditional music.
