I don't know how many here read Northern Earth but there was a rather amusing, and thoughtful article in the latest edition NE111.
The article was called "The Whittington Wassail" and addressed how future archaeologists might interpret remnants found from a night out on the razz by a group of modern day archaeologists. Although humorous, it did raise the issue of putting evidence in context.
Well worth reading, and bloody funny, too. ;D

Its my favorite publication. The editor John Billingsley is a great bloke. If you log onto the website you can join in their online forum which is also good.
