Here are some re-enactment events that I am hoping to perform at and would probably be of interest to those posting on this board:
11/12 Jun Museum of Welsh Life at St Ffagans. I'm fairly confident entry at this museum is always free. St Ffagans is just West of Cardiff and is signposted from the M4.
25/26 June Chester Roman Festival. Up to now has been held at the racecourse but may be moved this year. An enormous event with several groups. Entertainment includes: Gladiatorial combat displays, Chariot racing Military parades and an extensive living history encampment featuring a variety of craft displays. I don't know how much they charge and tickets may be limited so you may need to book.
9/10 July Caerleon Roman festival. Slightly smaller than Chester. None of the groups I belong to are there so I'll probably be there as a spectator. Not sure if they charge for this one. Charges may be only for parking.
14-17 July I'm planning to be at the Druid Network camp. I may be offering to do a talk but if not I'm sure I'll be doing some storytelling around the campfire.
23/24 July The vicus will be portraying Romans and Britons at a multi period event in Hounslow. I'm not comitting myself to being there and I've no idea on costs involved.
30/31 July Flag Fen are doing a special event on local archaeology and Ancient Whispers (ie me and my family) are providing the Iron Age living history. Costs are posted on the Flag Fen website. Flag Fen is just to the East of Peterborough and is signposted from the ring road.
27 to 29 Aug Sheffield. The vicus are providing Romans and Britons for a big multi period show. I'm unsure of costs or exact location at this time and am undecided on atttending.
10/11 Sept Bovingdon Tank museum Dorset
The Vicus are doing Romans and Britons there. No news on cost but I hope to be present at this one
Anyone else got any events to recommend?
