Over the hills and far away.
I have always loved John Tam's interpretations of this 18th century soldier's song. So I thought I might filk it a bit and make it a bit more brythonic
[The Chorus]
O'er the hills an o'er the main
All good men of Brython came
Boudicca called and we obeyed
Over the hills and far away
[The Song]
There's loot and glory to be had,
For those who'll come and join our band,
To stand and fight 'gainst Rome today
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
When honour calls us we must go
To stand and face this foreign foe
But part of us will always stray
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
Now we may travel far from hame
A part of us shall still remain
Our Gods are with us night and day
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
When Evil stalks upon the lands
We'll neither hold nor stay our hands
But fight to win a better day
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
The Legions may well cut us down
But we'll be judged by our reknown
A warrior's life I'll ne'er gainsay
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
[Slower and with solemnity]
Boudicca called and we did go,
To free us from the Roman yoke,
From her side we did not stray,
Over the hills and far away.
[Chorus]
[Slower and with solemnity]
There we fell to rise no more
As many comrades did before
So ask the bard his harp to play
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
[Brighter again]
Now Rome is gone but we're still here
Beneath the land we held so dear
Forget us not and sing this day
Over the hills and far away
[Chorus]
