I heard on this board some time ago that there was to be a bardic course. Any news?

Are you sure?
We did discuss setting up a Brython course in which students would be able to specialise in subjects such as bardism, but that's something for the far distant future.
If you want to get started on doing creative stuff, the best thing to do is simply to do it. Make a habit of writing or creating music. Do a bit each day, keep a diary. Perhaps aim to write one song, tune or poem for each month. Look at the old poetic forms and learn how to use them effectively, read stuff written in those forms by other people. (I recommend 'Shapes of Our Singing' by Robin Skelton)
In the meantime, if there's anything you want to know just ask and I, or others here, may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you Blackbird, I have to get into Skaldic poetry some time in the distant future, with the Rune Gild. I am currently trying to write a novel as well as trying to start up my photographic business in Spain. I had been wondering about the OBOD courses but they seem very expensive.

If you like the idea of the OBOD course, have a word with Damh - they may have schemes to spread the costs, or discounts.
Another idea, especially if you're writing a novel, would be to look at Adult Ed courses in your area. They often have creative writing stuff going on and that would give you a place for support, advice and feedback on your work.
