I can't find the thread but I'm sure somewhere Arth suggested gathering face to face more often - or at least twice a year? Any thoughts on this? There are some really big topics being discussed at the moment; the naming of gods, the mortality and genesis of Spirits of Place, incipient godhood, the cultural drives to neo-paganism and even, albeit slightly obscurely, the power in the violent ending of life. I just feel incapable of having these discussions through this text based forum medium. These are huge topics, and with the variety of backgrounds and approaches we have here, I find it vanishingly difficult to realise what is and isn't implicit in what I write here spmetimes. Forums are a cumbersome way to communicate at best, and with such big/exciting/radical and surely fundamental stuff in our minds at the moment would anyone be interested in getting together to discuss it? Lee demanded looking for a warmer option than Flag Fen and I think Potia suggested hiring a cottage for a weekend somewhere. So what about it? Anyone up for it? I'm more than happy to travel after hosting the last one!

I love the idea of getting together again sooner rather than later. No idea when though. Re hiring a cottage - Arran's a lovely place

I love the idea of getting together again sooner rather than later. No idea when though. Re hiring a cottage - Arran's a lovely place Hi Potia I know Aran's really special but if we want to do this at relatively short notice (Oct/Nov) then I think perhaps the cost of travel + ferry might just make Arran a bit difficult? Perhaps we could make contributions to the hire of a cottage relative to the distance traveled - to even out the total cost of the weekend for each of us? I do realise you came a long way last time... I think pragmatically a place fairly central would be best for now? Maybe Arran in the summer with a specific focus?

You're right Francis and I'm well aware that Arran may be a bit too far for a short trip. Perhaps sometime in the future we could organise longer gatherings too and then Arran might be a reasonable choice I don't think I travelled any further than Arth and Bram coming from Sussex really but yes pragmatically somewhere a bit more central seems like a good idea. Actually now I've done the night train to London I'd be ok somewhere accessible via London too. Especially if I can get porridge for breakfast with excellent company as on my last trip

I'm up for it. A shared place sounds great though I'd have to ask for a lift from the nearest station to it. London is, in transport terms, central to everything and there's a nice youth hostel in Holland Park!

well how about mid Nov? gives plenty of notice?
of course london is a nice option and for those who wanted to come down on the friday night to save on time lost on the saturday i can offer a place to stay the night for a couple fo people.
if we do it in london i can and will arrange a 'space' for us to make use of, possibly the meeting room at treadwells bookshop - should give us a warm comfortable place to chat and be sociable.

Mid Nov as in 14th/15th Nov in London? Sounds like it's got potential to me. Who else might be able to make it?

Francis, what about you? Is this a possibility for you - it was your suggestion that started this off after all?

Are we still looking at this weekend for a gathering?

Francis, what about you? Is this a possibility for you - it was your suggestion that started this off after all? Sorry guys - I've held off replying until I'd exhausted all options, but I can't find a way to be free for that weekend (14/15th). Are there any other options? If not don't worry, I'll see you all at the next one.

Someone suggested on another thread (was it Arth?) looking at Flag Fen as a location again. If folks want to do that I think it would need to be earlier but that might be too short notice for some. Also I seem to remember comments about it being very cold last year I'm sure there are other date options we can look at if we are looking at London as a location. What about the following weekend of 21st/22nd November? Is that any good for people? I know chances of us all being free are slim but we might find a date that suits more of us.
