Hi everyone! There are lots of names I recognise on here.
I’m Kristal (not a 'craft name' but my real one, before anyone wonders!) and I followed a link from following a link from the Druid Network forum (LOL) and I’m very pleased I did so!
I have been following what I would identify as a druidic path, like many people progressing from general and largely uninformed Paganism through OBOD-style Druidry to the point where I am now, wondering whether I should bother calling what I do Druidry at all. I like the word ‘Brython’. I love this land; this sacred island, the home of many of my ancestors. I have no wish to live anywhere else. I revere the gods of this land, the gods that my ancestors would have recognised. I can’t help also having Irish ancestry and a need to recognise the Gael in me, so I hope you’ll forgive me for that ;-)
I am becoming more and more disillusioned with much of what passes for modern Druidry, so many books telling me to ‘walk in the light’ when anyone with half a brain can tell that mystery and potentiality are to be found in darkness. I like the twilight, myself. I also very much dislike being told that I should worship ‘THE goddess’. I am not monotheistic, or duotheistic for that matter. There are many gods.
I struggle with much of what I am told I should be doing in ritual; why am I ‘calling the quarters’ and asking for the presence of elements, which are all around us and within us anyway? Who says I have to cast a circle, when I feel uncomfortable and ridiculous doing so?
I am not particularly learned, but have a wish to learn more. I know that some members here have much to teach me, so forgive me if I lurk more than I post!
