Title: A World Full of Gods: An Inquiry into Polytheism Author: John Michael Greer ISBN: 0976568101
I've just finished reading this book and was wondering if anyone here at CF has an opinion on it. It gets rave reviews at Amazon, so I am left thinking it's just me that has a tough time accepting Greer's arguments for polytheism.

looks interesting. i always go to the negative reviews first on books like this one and the one 3star it gets is rather interesting.
i think this is one to pick up and have a read of, it is somewhat heartening to see books being published which begin to tackle things like pagan theology and ethics rather than the latest craze for magical familiars with interchangeable crystal suppositories(to attune to your current mood/energy)

I must admit I am mostly in agreement with Ali, the 3 star reviewer. Though it doesn't attack monotheism as such, it appears to oppose the arguments for a singular god, whilst then using the very same reasoning for monotheism to prove polytheism. Thus if A proves there is a singular god, then A also proves there are multiple gods.
At least, this is how it came across to me. Then again, I've never studied comparative religion, theology, logic, or ethics - so maybe I am just not getting it.
