Ive been a member of Caer Feddwyd for just over a week now and already I have learned so much. You may remember from my introduction that ive been looking for a way of reconnecting with our ancestral pre-romanised traditions for the past 10 years or so. Since finding this group I feel Ive 'come home' as so many of you seem to think what ive been thinking but have been unable to fully express for myself. For that Id like to thank you all.
One thing that has become crystal clear to me is that the Druidic path isnt for me. Although it provided a stepping stone for me in finding Caer Feddwyd and the Brythonic tradition I find it simply doesnt resonate with the same truth or authenticism to me that Brython does.
I've spent the past week reading through past posts and getting to know my way around. Ive also been thinking quite a lot of ways in which to progress with my own personal Brython tradition. Ive especially been mulling over spirits of place which directly affect me within my landscape and trying to see the world as the neolithic people would have done through their eyes and in their context.
I've already begun to become acquainted with deities or spirits of place that are personal to me. I hope i dont come across as too 'out there' by saying that the experiences Ive had so far since stating my intention are definitely more than just coincidental.
Ive spent this week thinking deeply about my own personal path within the Brython tradition building upon what i already think i know and expanding on other areas that i havent even thought about. Ive decided to utilise the coming year to experiment with different aspects and see how it fits with my worldview, I'll look at different methods of reconnection by recognising, reinventing and ritualising the festivals of various deities. Ive also approached Megli with a view to starting the Middle Welsh course that he has so generously provided.
Its interesting from reading your personal blogs that i already partake in and share some of the activities that you mention, im a keen astronomer and have thought for some time of researching the constellation myths from a native British context. I see Dreamguardian has already begun this. I work as a paramedic so am used to seeing death and human suffering on a daily basis, this certainly has the effect of showing me both the frailty but also the strength of the human body and psyche. I see several of you enjoy hillwalking and bushcrafts, this is something I have enjoyed for most of my life. Some of you are archaeolgical academics; archaeology is an important aspect to me too and has been for a long time, im self taught and although not formally qualified i have assisted with digs in the past. I am passionate about conservation, i am a member of my local wildlife group and assist them whenever i can, im also a surveyor for the local Otter Group and a member of the Badger Group. I also grow and use my own herbs and vegetables and make a mean parsnip wine! The list seems to go on!
Im planning my own ritual to the Grey Mare on the 18th based around the triple toast and this will begin my initiation into the tradition and also my Brythonic year which I have decided to write about blog style.
Id like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for allowing me to share with you what i feel is one of the most important aspects of my life.
