Right section for this?
I posted this on my blog ages ago, but was reading it again while going through my journal. I thought I would repost it here and then IF it's suitable for the new site that's great (and if not I'll just cry quietly into a bottle of wine )
Long were the months for Briganti as She awaited Her sister Rhiannon and foster-son Maponus. When They had left the land for the Otherworld Briganti’s sadness had been so great that Her tears had formed 100 new rivers across the land. Though Briganti’s tears had dried Her heart ached for Their return.
Briganti looked out upon the frozen land and its people and She saw how their hearts ached also for the return of Rhiannon and Maponus.
The bleak land lay barren, blanketed by snow and ice. Little food nor warmth was to be found for the people.
Briganti's heart was moved by the love the people bore for Her sister, Rhiannon, and by their hard lives. She went to the people and She gifted them fire to warm themselves through the cold days and nights, and the people loved Her. When it seemed like the winter would never end, that the skies would never again be blue or the trees ever again be green, Briganti walked out amongst the people. In one long night She visited each and every home where Her gift of fire burned bright, casting Her blessing over the people She found there with love in their hearts. Everywhere She walked the first snowdrops sprung up from the white earth and She whispered hope into the peoples' hearts.
I am here. She whispered.
I am here and I will watch over you. Have hope for the light is returning!
Briganti whispered Her words of comfort and courage into every sleeping ear.
Dry your tears now and wipe your eyes, wash away this winters grime.
Wash your hands, and face and home, purify bodies and minds.
The land will be green anew!
Each year when winter had left the people at their most desperate, Briganti would return to the people bringing Her message of hope, and every year the people would welcome Her into their hearts and into their homes.
