Do I need to say more? This book is the bane of my life. It seems that every day brings a fresh wave of enthusiasts, many of whom become quite aggressive when I tell them it's not fit to wipe their arse on. Yes, yes, some of it is OK, and there are some bits which do make me think he's spoken to some of the right people. But looking for these is like searching for a needle in a dungheap and frankly, not worth the effort. 1. The 'Book of Pheryllt'. According to Monroe, the records of an neolithic priesthood on Snowdonia who established ritual centres at Glastonbury. Total bobbins - 'The Book of Pheryllt actually refers to the writings of Virgil... www.digitalmedievalist.com/faqs/pheryllt.html2. He includes 'elemental correspondence tables' that owe much to ceremonical magic... 3. He includes ancient Druidic recipes which include ingredients such as pumpkin... enuff said... 4. He has a piece on the 'Great Spells of Making'. This 'spell of making' is the charm from the film Excalibur, which was written for the film by a professor of Old Irish. 5. He has the song 'Ar Hyd y Nos' given as 'part of the Sacred Song Cycles of the Druids... it was used as a solomn call for the Sun's rebirth on the Solstice - performed at dawn by White robed priests" 6. He advocates dosing ill folks with mistletoe, saying 'if symptoms are severe, double the quantity'. There is no mention at all of caution or possible poisoning. I could go on, but I've started to feel ill.

I read that book a long time ago but I still have it--along with it's sequel. I know now it's crap but I'm not sure what to do with it. I wouldn't want to give it to anyone I like and I generally don't give books to those I don't like. I could sell it to a used book store but then some poor person may buy it. I doubt it would do much as firewood. Someone once suggested that I mark the inaccuracies in it page by page with good references but unfortuneately I do not feel that I have enough knowledge to do that yet. There are a few other books that I own that are in the same catagory by authors like McCoy and Stepanich. I don't know what to do with them

Someone once suggested that I mark the inaccuracies in it page by page with good references but unfortunately I do not feel that I have enough knowledge to do that yet. That would almost be impossible, as his information isn't so much inaccurate in interpretation than just completely made up. In any case, you'd end up underlining the entire text... it's just not worth spending the effort. We once had the excellent idea of using such books to fashion papier mache heads in the likeness of the authors, then setting up a shy. Or you could stick them on spikes, as you prefer ;D Edited to fix quotes
