Heya Sue, I finished it at 8 p.m. last night. Unfortunately, I had to work from 9 to 6 yesterday, so couldn't spend too much time on it. I have to say that I thought it the best in the series. Fast and furious and I felt vindicated in my loyalty to a certain character. What did you think? Cheers, Webwitch

Finished it last night - and yep, for me the best in the series. I was a bit surprised at the ending, but glad to see a few other theories turned out to be right. Definately the most action packed one.

OMG!
Somewhere in the fourth book I lost the will to live and have not touched the damned series since! I see almost nothing of literary or educational value in the whole project.
If you want something a bit more satisfying try The Children of Hurin, recently rewritten from his father's extensive notes by Christopher Tolkien.

I will be working my way through the Stonewylde series by Kit Berry. Five books in total of which only two have been released. ;D

OMG! I see almost nothing of literary or educational value in the whole project. I would be curious to find anyone who finds literary of educational value but it has been fun! I did approach this last volume as an itch to be scratched and I doubt I will ever re-read them which is my yardstick on how good I think a book is. I've passed on the Children of Hurin - got fed up after reading the Silmarillion.

OMG! I see almost nothing of literary or educational value in the whole project. Well, they are childrens books after all, not designed for world-weary adults.

I pinched my daughter's copy, (after she'd read it of course) and ploughed through it at a single sitting. I enjoyed it, but there was a lot of mayhem going on.

I first picked up a HP book when I was suppose to be writing my PhD thesis (and initially to see what the fuss was about). That said, I have enjoyed the books. They've been perfect when I want to read but can't cope with something heavy - gives me a break from scientific papers anyway. The end of the series still leaves me with some questions though.

They've been perfect when I want to read but can't cope with something heavy - gives me a break from scientific papers anyway. Wow, so great to find someone who reads the way I do. Heavy material, interspersed with lighter reading to refresh the brain. ;D how much not to reveal who JKR kills off? ;D Nowt. I already know. ;D The end of the series still leaves me with some questions though. If you wish to discuss this away from the thread (to avoid spoilers), perhaps I can help? Cheers, Webwitch ;D

Slightly odd choice of words to end it on I felt...has she left it open do you think? JK Rowling has said she will never say never. Although, during most interviews, she is adamant that Harry will not rise again, she is not ruling out branching off with other characters from the series. However, this may never happen as she has stated her eagerness to pursue other writing.
