Well this seems to be the furthest north post in this section so far :-) When we first moved down here to West Lothian, it seemed to me that this is one of the least likely areas to have a sacred sites, but having over the intervening years walk and explored the countryside this area is fair infested with sites of significance :-). Areas like Cairnpapple, Cockle Roy, Bowden Hill and scores of lesser, though no less important sites. Cairnpapple is a wonderful site, rarely do you find a lot of people there, which leaves the place special and uncontaminated by the usual tourist clutter. The views from the top of the hill are spectacular, looking out over the whole of the Forth valley, from Stirling in the West to North Berwick Law in the east. One web site I've come across is dedicated to the history of Lothian, and in particular the early history, hope you don't mind it being posted, if it goes against the rules please delete www.cyberscotia.com/ancient-lothian/By the way I have no connections with the site or its owner. Once I've settled in and figured out the magic to make this site work I'll try to post some pics of the sites I've come across

No, that's fine - I love the Cyberscotia site, and keep meaning to add a proper link to it This is one of the things I love about Britain. While there are the well known sites, each area has a wealth of interesting and lesser known stuff that is all the more special for it being local to us... 'ours', in as much as such things can be. Something that we know intimately, that we can visit in all seasons. Also something that connects us to those that stood there before... Stopping rambling now... the short answer is yes, I'd love to see some pictures ;D

Believe it or not, within eye sight there has been built a NEW stone circle in a field opposite a farm. I think it was built for a birthday of one of the kids on the farm. Now I don't know if its just me, but I get a suspicious about that's man's affiliations to the norm in religions. that and the fact that he has a bloody big Pictish boar sculpted into a boulder at the entrance to the farm :-)

I have always meant to visit Cairnpapple Hill but never actually got round to it.

I remember Cairnpapple and the new circle well. Ian and I walked off an impressive hangover there once I was most impressed by the boar being one who likes that symbol in particular. Blessings, Craig <o>.
