I am aware that Thornborough, The Great Pyramids and (I believe) some place in the far east (Thailand/Cambodia) are all built to as an acurate representation of Orion's Belt.
Has anyone any information on why? Aside from being easy to see in the night sky are there any British legends that relate to it?
I have searched and found nothing that would explain the phenomenon.
To build some thing as immense as Thornborough it must have had a significance.

Orion's belt is a constellation also known as the Distaff in northern folklore. Or so I believe, though I cannot for the life of me remember where I found the reference.
The pyramid connection is tenuous to say the least, and relies on ignoring most of the remains in Egypt in order to focus on what the author wanted to make his money from in the book...
I'm not sure that Thornborough fits the alignment accurately either...

it was known as Artur's yard in welsh folklore.
though naming it after bendigeidfran would be more appropriate i think... or possibly Arawn or gwyn. it would certainly continue the hunter theme (with orion) and seeing as it is in the sky more at winter would be more appropriate for these 2 chaps.
