seeing as most of these threads are about less urban sites and as i have just moved to london, i thought i would post abut some of the places here.
well, what i mean is, get advice.
the tower of london is on the list, if only to see the Ravens. also the temple of mithras. Ludgate although probably nothing to see, i want to go have a look about especially as i get a tingle every time i see signs for it.
um... the huge Hindu temple in north london i think it is i want to see.
any londoners here have suggestions?

Well there is the London Stone which is an ancient marker stone in Cannon Street. Primrose Hill - famous for the gatherings of druids There is a round barrow in Greenwich Park - and the meridian line of course Clink Lane and the Borough Market are worth a visit - more recent history but very "London" Borough used to be the red light district of London in the victorian times and Clink Lane is where the prison was. The British Museum is a must for the Battersea shield etcf (obvously a London artefact) Speakers Corner in Hyde Park is always good for a laugh if you have nothing else to do... And the lamb and Flag pub in Covent Garden is good way finish your day - if you can get past the suits!! I will try and think of some more...but the Tower is great - look out for the bonfire prayers.... Remember remember the 5th of November the gunpowder treason and plot, plot plot
Can you tell I am a Londoner? hehe

And the lamb and Flag pub in Covent Garden is good way finish your day - if you can get past the suits!! Mmmm that was my regular haunt when I lived in London many years ago. A lot of actors used to go there - I remember seeing the comedian Tony Hancock sitting glumly with a pint once (which tells you how many years ago it was). And I remember nearly getting recruited by a then unknown avant garde film maker called Yoko Ono to appear in a film that consisted entirely of buttocks!I remember also going to a meeting of the London Federation of Anarchists in the room upstairs where they were discussing whether or not there should be a fire brigade in an anarchist 'state'. O halcyon days of innocence! Sorry about that - got quite overcome with nostalgia there

Caitlin and me have a long weekend in London end of October. We're doing museums - Natural History and V&A on Thursday, Hampton Court Palace on Friday plus Patric Stewart as Macbeth in the evening. Then we're booked to see the Saturday matinee of 'Wicked'.

went to see St Pauls today up on Ludgate Hill, i did wonder if i would see anything of note regarding th 'Ludgate' bit but didnt spot anything.
that said, there were three sculptures there of stone heads on pillars called 'Angel 1, 2 and 3'
three stone heads on a hill named in honour of Lud?
lets just say i ill be going back at some point one evening with some drink, enough for four.

There is a walk marked which takes you around the remaining London walls, my partner and spent an enjoyable afternoon wandering around following them. A small warning that part of it is not marked well so you may to wander around a bit to pick it back up.

The Neasden temple is a bit awkward to find but well worth the effort. Of course i like to see all the Iron Age and Roman artefacts at the British Museum and the Museum of London. There's a Roman temple of Mithras in the City somewhere. The Tower of London is built on the white mount and Primrose hill is supposed to be a bit sacred for some reason. I'll post more when I think of them.
