Does anybody know any good pagan books theyd recomend about North West Wales? Legends or modern stories or ideas rather than How To books. Anything really!
Thank you!

Hi Coedwen Well there's the obvious fourth branch of the mabinogion- Try Evangeline Walton's rewrite for a fleshed out fantasy version with the key elements intact (just my opinion!) Also have a look at the folklore section of Gwasg Carreg Gwalch www.carreg-gwalch.co.uk/englsih/books.htmMy less obvious top choice would be Thomas Firbank's "I bought a mountain". I can't stress enough my contempt for this man his arrogance is breath taking, but I guess many of his views are of his class at that point in time, and the past is a different country etc. etc. Some of his subsequent actions are less forgivable in any period. But that aside this book describes a life with the welsh mountains and sheep very well, and is peppered throughout with his little unquestionably pagan asides and insights. Living where you do I'm sure this book will sing to you- every page smells of wet sheep, molina and the spirit of those hills. It's a more comfortable read if you try and see it from the perspective of the local welsh watching him though, rather than just listening to his opinions and judgment of them. I'm a bit biased as I know well the family from Garth farm (the one on the valley floor below his) mentioned throughout in the book! Stephen

That's a blast from the past! I read 'I Bought a Mountain' years ago, and one of my favourite bits was when he offered free christmas trees to everyone. They all brought them back afterwards and replanted them!
Cheers, Midori
