Next year, at Flag Fen, there will be an Eisteddfod (For details go to http://www.theancientmuse.co.uk). After I was told that this morning I received this vision - of myself standing, head back roaring the poem below to the crowd...it took me about three minutes to write it down and I now have a pounding headache...
HWAT!?
Let me tell you a tale, you may wish to hear,
Of men and of women, who once ran with the deer
Who stood on this causeway, and gave of their gold
Who call to me now, for their story to be told
These children of Epona, were proud and were strong
Who valued their land, through poetry and song
Their voices are gone now, but echo here still
And yet can be heard here, through those with the will
So listen you people, of these fond fair isles
To the tales of their fire, their war and their wiles
For all about you are such great bards as I've seen
Who would proclaim this land's virtues, on this ancient green
The Queen of these lands, Boudicca her name
Once fought here for justice, but never for fame
She took on those bastards, of Rome's mighty power
And shook the foundations, of that Empire's Tower
So praise the Iceni, the men of the horse
And all of the others, who fought for their cause
They bloodied the proud legions, on this sacred land
And gave up their lives, that free we might stand
So come all ye women, and men of this age
Remember their battles, remember their rage
Be proud of their honour, for which they did fall
And sing of them forever, in this ancient hall.
