Picked this film up in a Woolies sale last weekend for £5, so go get if you like such horrible Germanic nastiness I really enjoyed it. It starred Gerard Butler (300), who I quite like, and is certainly more believable than a CGI Ray Winstone. I won't spoil it, but I was intrigued by the treatment of Grendel. For historical details it didn't seem too bad, although I thought the helms were later Dark Age than the AD500 it was set (but I know realtively littel of Germanic/viking archaeology). What did impress me was this was the first film I have ever seen where the horses were true to the period, basically big ponies rather than the medieval steed you normally see.

This version didn't get a normal release here in the UK - DVD is pretty much the only way you can see it.
